Electronic devices can be found in most industries throughout the world. While these devices are prolific and readily available, most people do not possess the skills necessary to create, install or repair the devices they use each day.
The Applied Electronics course helps students acquire these skills by providing hands-on exposure to tools, measurement instrumentation, discrete components, schematics, gates, timers, clocked logic, amplifiers, circuit design and construction, interfacing, data acquisition and conversion, soldering, computer-aided design and more.
Most people and businesses are impacted by pervasive digital communications. This course is designed to introduce students to voice and data communication systems. Emphasis is placed on transmission theory, hands-on experience with installation and connectivity, data management, ethics, system tools, hand tools and troubleshooting.
This course will help prepare students for testing and acquisition of industry certifications and employment as productive members of information technology teams.
This course focuses on the deployment and troubleshooting of single-board computers, desktops and server systems.
Knowledge and skills acquired from this course prepare students for employment as technicians and engineers in the broad field of information technology.
Sensors are found in all areas of modern society. Students learn how to communicate with and install a variety of sensors including infrared, temperature, humidity, linear and rotational position, pressure, light, color, velocity, direction and more.
When combined with the knowledge acquired in the Applied Electronics course, students will be suited for entry-level positions in transportation control and monitoring, security, manufacturing process control, climate control systems development, robotics, weather monitoring and more.
This course provides training in the installation and management of single-user and multi-user operating systems and software applications.
The knowledge and skills acquired in the course will be useful for desktop client and server support positions in the information technology industry.
